Business owner guide

Plain-language help for creating an account, building a listing and getting approved.

What Urban Directory is

Urban Directory is a curated network of Australian local business directories. Listing your business helps locals find you in the right category — without competing with thousands of unrelated results.

Creating an account

  • Visit Sign up and enter your email and a password.
  • Confirm via email if email confirmation is enabled.
  • Sign in to access your dashboard and Business Hub.

Creating a business profile

  • Go to My businesses → Add a business.
  • Fill in the business name, description, category and contact details.
  • Save your profile — you can return and edit it any time.

Creating and submitting a listing

  • Each business can have a listing in a directory.
  • Save as Draft while you work on it.
  • When ready, submit for review. The status changes to Pending review.
  • An admin will approve, request changes or return it to draft.
  • Once approved, the listing is Published and visible publicly.

Listing images

  • Free listings currently support one image.
  • More listing and media options are planned for future paid plans.
  • Use a clear, high quality image that represents your business.
Current limits: Free listings currently support one image. More listing/media options are planned for future paid plans.

Editing and re-submitting

  • Edit your listing any time from Business Hub or My businesses.
  • If admin requested changes, update the listing and submit again.
  • You can archive a listing if you no longer want it visible.

What admin review notes mean

  • Changes requested — update the listing per the note and re-submit.
  • Approved — the listing is live on the public site.
  • Returned to draft — the listing was moved back; review the note.
  • Suspended — temporarily hidden; contact support if unclear.

Email notifications

  • You'll receive an email when your listing is pending review.
  • You'll receive an email when it is approved and live.
  • Emails come from no-reply at urbandirectory.com.au — check spam if missing.
